Jeżeli tak jak ja nie macie pamięci do nazwisk to informacja o śmierci Richarda Donnera może nie powiedzieć zbyt wiele. Jednak gdy powiem, że zmarł reżyser takich kultowych filmów jak Superman, Omen, Goonies czy Zabójcza Broń, to nagle robi się bardzo smutno.
Donner na zawsze odmienił kino i przetarł szlaki kolejnym produkcjom. To właśnie on pokazał, że można robić horrory, przez które strach potem zostać samemu lub wejść do piwnicy. To także Donner pokazał, że komiksowe historie o superbohaterach to zacny temat do przeniesienia na duże ekrany. To dzięki niemu wiele lat później do kin trafiły historie o bohaterach Marvela.
Na filmach Donnera wychowały się dzieciaki z roczników 70 i 80 choćby za sprawą Goonies czy serii Zabójcza Broń, którą swoją drogą w ostatnim czasie sobie odświeżyłem i szczerze polecam.

Richard Donner zmarł 5 lipca 2021 roku, miał 91 lat. O śmierci reżysera poinformowała jego żona Lauren Shuler Donner. Nie zostały jednak ujawnione przyczyny śmierci. Jego reżyserski dorobek to 80 produkcji filmowych. Poza wyżej wymienionymi filmami należy wymienić choćby Zaklętą w sokoła, Teorię spisku, Linię czasu czy 16 przecznic.
Całe Hollywood opłakuje śmierć reżysera, Twitter został wręcz zalany komentarzami reżyserów, producentów, aktorów i wytwórni, które upamiętniają zmarłego.
